Jamie C. Veazey, 65, a resident of Forest passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at his residence in Forest, MS. Visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm and again on Sunday, January 01, 2012 from 1:30 until 2:20 pm at the Forest United Methodist Church in Forest, MS. Funeral services were at the Forest United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 01, 2012 at 2:30 pm with burial following in the Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS. Officiating was Rev. Paul McDonald. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Veazey had lived in Forest, MS for the past forty years, moving from Louisville, MS and he was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church, Forest, MS. He had retired after twenty-five years of law enforcement in Scott County in 2007 at the rank of Captain with the Scott County Sheriff Department. He had previously served as Chief of Police with the Forest Police Department for eight years.
He is survived by his wife Annette Brignac Veazey of Forest, MS; step-mother, Mary Veazey of Louisville, MS; three daughters, Jennifer Savell and husband Jim of Lake, MS; Jackie Nabors and husband David of Columbus, MS; Julie Thompson and husband Jamie of Morton, MS; two brothers, Bill Veazey of Lewisville, TX; Larry Veazey of Louisville, MS; six grandchildren, Adam and Mark Savell, Nathan and Anna Claire Nabors; and Dylan and Preston Thompson.
Pallbearers were Butch Miller, Jason Miller, Chris Miller, Michael Thompson, Eugene Alvarez, Dewitt Ladner, Ben Alexander, Vance Taylor, Van Jones, and Randy Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Bagley, Buddy Miller, Jaret Veazey, Horace Barton, and Ricky Peterson.
