Bud McGee, 83, died Friday, August 17, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, from 2-5 p.m. at Wolf Funeral Home in Lake and
Monday, August 20 at 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wolf Funeral Home Chapel followed by a gravesite service at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Lawrence.
Mr. McGee was born Robert Denzil McGee on May 29, 1935 to Robert Edgar McGee and Laura Elizabeth Brown McGee. He was a native of Newton County and lived his life in Lake. He attended Hazel Baptist Church.
On October 11, 1952, he married Pearl Hillhouse McGee in Decatur. For 65 years, they maintained a home full of family and hard work. Bud was a former construction company owner and a former chicken farmer. He loved to spend his days in the hay field baling hay in his John Deere Tractor and working with his cows. He was also an avid deer hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Lavelle Posey, Lorene Harmon, and Evie Zelle McGee.
He is survived by his wife and four children: Joe (Lynn) McGee, Diane (Stan) Pinson,
Kathy (Joey) Mitchell, and Pam (Mark) Bradshaw; nine grandchildren: Jennie (Chris)
Simmons, Chad (Mandy) Wilkerson, Josh (Erica) McGee, Jason (Stephenia) McGee, Kayla (Stephen) Myers, Laurin (Jason) Wilkerson, Karley (Charlie) Allen, Jake McGee, and Matt Bradshaw; 16 great-grandchildren: Katie Beth Simmons, Hanna Wilkerson, Kariana Simmons, Seth McGee, Abbie McGee, Jadon McGee, Will McGee, Krissi Joe Simmons, Levi McGee, Kamden Myers, Kipton Myers, Jasie Wilkerson, Kinley Allen, Rigby Kate Myers, Macie Wilkerson, and Bo Allen; and four siblings: Louise Ogletree, Meredith Herrington, Barbara (Roger) Harris, and Danny (Jenny) McGee.
Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Duncan of Lake and Rev. Victor Bugg of Lawrence.
Pallbearers are Chad Wilkerson, Josh McGee, Jason McGee, Jake McGee, Matt
Bradshaw, Chris Simmons, Stephen Myers, Jason Wilkerson, Charlie Allen, and Seth McGee. Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Bagley, Frank Garcia, Chuck Hawthorne, Benny Jones, Antonio Lombard, Daniel Nester, David Joe Usry, and Mike Wooten.
