Ricky Federick

November 11, 1947 — February 8, 2016

Ricky Darrell Federick, 68, of Lake, MS stepped into eternity on February 8, 2016, from Mississippi Care Center in Morton. He is survived by his soulmate of 48 years, Nancy of Lake, MS and two adoring daughters, Sonya Holdiness (Tony) of Lake, MS and Misty Hampton (Norm) of Charlotte, NC. Ricky had 7 grandchildren: Dent, Corey, and Tanner Kelly and Emma and Avery Holdiness, Gabe and Gracie Hampton. His brothers are Dwight (Becky) of Lake and Charles Ray (Dot) of Lawrence. His sister, Deborah (Joe) Bell is from Hillsboro. Ricky was blessed with two special aunts, numerous special cousins, nieces and nephews. Ricky had two honorary granddaughters, Romane Gury from France and Pia Nottmeier of Germany.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bodie and Louise Federick of Lake and his brother, Albert Glen of Meridian.

Ricky was born in Morton, MS and attended Morton Elementary until 4th grade when his family moved to Lake. There he lived the remainder of his life hunting and fishing every chance he could get. He finished high school at Lake and never missed a Lake High School football game until his illness began in 2007. He was Mr. Senior Class and played football and ran track. He and Nancy were married in August of 1967 before he was drafted into the Army in 1968. He served in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Colorado until 1970. Upon their return to Mississippi, Ricky worked at Gibson Discount Store, Tom Hydrick Motors, Lake High School, and finished his working days at Newton Municipal School District where he worked for 23 years before retiring in 1997. Ricky was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lake, sang in the choir, and was the resident comedian of the Adult 3 Sunday school class.

Services to celebrate Ricky's life were held at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS on Thursday, February 11, 2016 with visitation from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and Friday, February 12, 2016 with Funeral Services at 11:00AM in the chapel. There will also be a brief visitation Friday morning beginning at 10:00AM for out of town guests. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Lake Building Fund or Men's Ministry (P.O. Box 156 Lake, MS 39092) or to Samaritan'sPurse.org. There will be no graveside service.
