Mr. Robert Earl Hodges, “Uncle Bob”, passed from this life on Christmas Eve to be in Heaven for Jesus’ birthday. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00AM under the portico of Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Covid 19 took Bob from us, so please mask up and practice social distancing if you plan to attend.
Bob was born on October 16, 1939, to the late Effie Turner Hodges and John Hodges. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Bonnie Gene and Johnnie Mae; 5 brothers, Jim, Mac, Bill, Sam and Cecil; 4 nephews, Keith, Joey, Thomas and Joe and 2 nieces, Missy and Cecila.
Bob is survived by his sons, Rick (Illa) Hodges and Russell (Jessica) Hodges; his very special friend and companion of 18 years, Diane Clark Smith; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Bob was the last of a strong generation and he really lived. His great joys were traveling in his motorhome, shooting guns, visiting his family, hunting on the family farm and talking to Russell every day. He lived to serve his family and friends and help others with his time and care. He was generous of heart.
His early career was dedicated to being a New Mexico State Police Officer for 23 years and the San Juan County undersheriff for 5 years. He was a past Grand Patron of New Mexico Eastern Star, A Mason, A Shriner and a Thirty Second Degree Scottish Rite. The last year of his life, he had a hip replacement so he could drive his motorhome, almost rolled a 4-wheeler off a mountain in Colorado, went camping with his son and daughter-in-law and shared his 81st birthday with his great grandson Tucker who turned 2 on the same date and he had a great time with it all.
Bob leaves a very large hole in the hearts of his family and friends and will be greatly missed by many, yet we know we all know we will see him again SOMEDAY.
