Willie Jewel Smith, 85, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brandon, MS. Visitation is Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service, all taking place at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS, outside under the portico. Interment will follow at Rehobeth Baptist Cemetery in the Leesburg Community. Rev. Jack Stewart will officiate. All who attend are reminded that per MSDH guidelines, masks are required and social distancing is expected.
Mrs. Smith was born in Rankin County Mississippi on September 4, 1935 to the late Nora Stewart and Sam Peavy. She lived in Rankin County her whole life. Mrs. Smith was Baptist by faith and attended Eastside Baptist Church. She loved her flowers, music and most of all, people. She never met a stranger and everyone says she always had a smile on her face.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Smith and 8 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Penny Benson (Doug) of the Crossroads community and Shirley Harper (Ray) of Pearl; brother, Neal Peavy (Susan) of Philadelphia; Grandchildren, Brian Benson (Kristin) and Jessica Crews (Michael); great grandchildren, Gracie Benson, Emory Benson and Brannon White as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
