W.E. Franklin

July 14, 1934 — February 7, 2021

Mr. W. E. Franklin, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2021, at St Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Leesburg Baptist Cemetery with Bro. Jon Vanlandingham officiating.

W.E. was born in Rankin County, MS on July 14, 1934 to the late Evon Franklin and Susie Kate Fitzhugh. He was a lifelong resident of The Leesburg Community. W.E was of the Baptist faith and had attended Leesburg Baptist Church. W.E. was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and take care of his cattle.

In addition to his father and mother, W.E. is preceded in death by his 3 brothers, John C. Franklin, Emmit Franklin, and Sidney Franklin; 2 sisters Vera Bryant, and S.A. Kimble; son in law Dickey Crain. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Thelma Franklin of Leesburg, MS; daughters, Barbara Crain of Leesburg, MS, Donna Hill (Gale) of Lena, MS.; son Leon Franklin (Cindy) of Leesburg, MS; 2 sisters, June Harrell of Leesburg, MS, and Merle Thompson of Leesburg, MS; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren 2 great-great grandchildren and a number nieces, nephews and other relatives. Also his lifelong best friend Colon Measles.

Pallbearers include Drew Franklin, Ryan Litchliter, Dusty Hill, Daniel Pope, Donnie Harrell, and Rocky Harrell. Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Crain and Colon Measles.
