Olin Guy Lewis Jr.

Olin Guy Lewis, Jr. (Sonny), 87, passed away on October 6, 2021, at his home in Madison, MS. He was born on July 27, 1934 in Scott County to Olin Guy Lewis, Sr. and Ava Sharp Lewis. Visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Madison from 9:00 AM until 10:45AM with services to follow at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will be at Branch Church Cemetery in Scott County at 2:00 PM, under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Olin graduated from East Central Junior College. He served 2 years in the Army and returned to Jackson, MS to attend Mississippi College. In 1996, he retired from Jackson Public Schools where he had spent his entire work history. He was married to Shirley Peagler Lewis for 66 years. After retirement they moved to Madison, MS and were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Madison.
Olin in preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mildred Lewis May and Margret Lewis McMillan. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Shirley Peagler Lewis; 5 nieces and two nephews and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Bill Dickens, Richie Harrell, Guy McMillan, James May, Robert Scates, Gerald Taylor, Doug Thornton, and John Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Madison, 2100 Main Street, Madison, MS 39110 or to Branch Church Cemetery, 3997 Measels Road, Morton, MS 39117.
