S.L. Buck Alman, Jr., 91, born on November 25, 1929 to S.L. Alman Sr., and Jenny Grace McKay, passed away on September 19, 2021, at his residence. Visitation will be on September 22, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Hollybush UMC Cemetery with graveside services to follow at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jeff Nesbit officiating and under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services, Morton, MS.
Buck was a lifelong resident of Pelahatchie. He was Methodist by faith and a member of Hollybush UMC. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1957. He had a 4 year BA degree in Animal Science from Mississippi State University. Buck was known for his Cutting Horses and was inducted into the MS Quarter Horse Assoc. Hall Of Fame. He once was a leading cattleman in his day. He was on the cover of Progressive Farmer for his forage skills. He loved basketball, baseball especially Mississippi State.
He is preceded in death by his parents S.L., Sr., and Grace Alman and brother Max Alman. He is survived by son Buck Alman III (Glenda) of Pelahatchie, MS, and daughter, Lisa Cross of Pelahatchie, MS; four grandchildren, Bucky Alman (Ashley), Dusty Alman, Sarah Catherine Thompson (Jay), Jeremy Cross (Ayla); twelve great-grandchildren.
