Ralph Phillip Avera of Morton, MS passed away on June 12, 2017 at 6:10PM at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS from complications with diabetes.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton, MS with Rev. Joe Crane officiating. Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Wolf Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.
Phillip was born on February 10, 1960 in Milton, FL. He was a 1985 graduate of the University of Mississippi and was a defensive end on the football team. He lived most of his life in South Louisiana. He came to Mississippi in the late 1990’s and was employed as Program Manager at Raytheon Systems in Forest, MS until his retirement in 2012.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Morton, MS; one son, Hayden Avera (Liz) of Chicago, IL; his mother, Juanita Crawford of Westville, FL; one brother, Ron Avera (Lisa) of El Cajun, CA; two step-brothers, Bill Crain (Leslie) of Baton Rouge, LA and Richard Crawford (Elizabeth) of Brandon, FL; one step-sister, Angela Haycook of Baton Rouge, LA; one adopted brother, Edwin Santiago (Krissy) of Ponch de Leon, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Houston Avera; his step-mother, Callie Avera; his step-father, Marcus Crawford; and step-brother, Greg Crawford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
