Bernice Dumas Bailey, 90, born April 17, 1931, passed away on May 18, 2021, at Madison County Nursing Home in Canton, MS. There will be a graveside service on May 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM with visitation 30 minutes prior to service at Lena Cemetery with Bro. Ken McLemore presiding. Wolf Funeral Services are in charge of the services.
Bernice graduated from Lena High School and Gilfoy Baptist School of Nursing. She worked for Dr. Brock, Dr. Yates Pediatric Clinic, Hinds Cardiology, MS School for the Blind and Champus.
Bernice lived in Lena for 27 years after moving from Jackson. She was a member of the Lena Baptist Church. She loved traveling and camping in her younger life.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents Gaddis and Angie Golden Dumas; her husband of 68 years, William (Bill) Louis Bailey; brother Gerald Dumas; two grandchildren Zachary Bailey and Ben Phillips. She is survived by three sons, Dwight Bailey (Lana) of Brandon, MS, Ron Bailey (Terri) of Madison, MS, Dwayne Bailey (Susan) of Madison, MS and daughter Denise Phillips (Paxton) of Jackson, MS; five grandchildren Christie Sandige, Julie Whitfield, Jessica Shive, Ross Bailey and Melissa Runnels as well as 6 great grandchildren.
