Douglas Edgar Barnes, 88, went to be with The Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, MS. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 10:30AM until 11:20AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 11:30AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Allen Chapel Cemetery in Lena, MS. Bro. Joseph Oster will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Douglas was born on October 30, 1933, to Dan Emanuel Barnes and Grace Anna Prestage Barnes. He has lived in the Ludlow Community since 1996. Douglas was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of Allen Chapel Bible Church near his home. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and garden. Douglas enjoyed spending his mornings sitting on his swing. The most important thing to him was His Savior, Jesus Christ. He was always involved with his Church and wanted to share the love of Jesus with everyone. Douglas loved his family and his country.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Grace Barnes and his brother Paul Dewy Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Dorothy Barnes; children, Jeffery Keith Barnes of Lena, MS, Ronald Glen Barnes (Angel) of Vancleave, MS and Karen Renee Barnes of Canton, MS; brothers, Matthew Barnes (Kathy) of Brandon, MS, Jack Barnes (Peggy) of Lena, MS and Joy Barnes (Lois) of Brandon, MS; sister-in-law, Ann Barnes of Vicksburg, MS; grandchildren, Allen Sanders, Timothy Springs, Kinley Springs, Amy Everhart (Tim), Hayley Barnes, Emily Lugo (Antonio) and Taylor Barnes; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Sanders, Kason Sanders, Elizabeth Lugo and one more on the way as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Douglas’ memory.
Pallbearers will be Dan Barnes, Sam Barnes, Mark Barnes, Glen Prestage, Steven Barnes and Brandon Prestage.
