Betty Ruth Benton, a cherished member of the Clifton Community, passed away on March 10, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on November 4, 1941, in Rankin County, Mississippi, Betty was known for her deep-rooted connections to her community and her unwavering faith.

Betty lived most of her life in the Clifton Community and was an active member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Forest, MS. She found joy in her involvement with the church and fostered meaningful relationships within her congregation. Beyond her spiritual pursuits, Betty had a passion for quilting, a craft she embraced with creativity and dedication, often sharing her beautiful creations with family and friends.

She is survived by her two beloved sons, Tommy Benton (Deniece) of Forest, MS, and David Benton (Suzette) of Forest, MS. Betty treasured her role as a sister and is remembered fondly by her three sisters: Polly Thompson of Leesburg, MS, Linda Massey of Clifton, MS, and Janie Johns of Pelahatchie, MS. Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Steven Benton, Shawnna Weems, and Hannah Benton, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Levi Benton, McKinley Weems, Anna-Grace Weems, and Brantley Weens. Betty also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Tobe and Annie Williams, as well as her two sisters, Alice Harrell and Oretus Craft, and her brother, John Thomas Williams. Her family and friends are grateful for the love and wisdom she imparted throughout her life, which will be remembered fondly in the hearts of all who knew her.

Services to honor Betty's life will be held on March 12, 2025, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church located at 4340 Hillsboro-Ludlow Rd., Forest, MS 39074. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Betty Ruth Benton will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the vibrant spirit she brought to the lives of those around her.
