John Thomas “Big John” Blackwell
John Thomas “Big John” Blackwell, 73, a resident of Morton, MS passed away Saturday, October 05, 2013 at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Monday, October 07, 2013 from 5:30 until 7:30 pm and on Tuesday, October 08, 2013 from 8:00 until 9:45 am, and funeral services will be in the chapel at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the Sims Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Earl Clark and Rev. Joe Crane. Eulogy will be delivered by Kenny Neal. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Blackwell had lived in Morton, MS since 1953, moving from Newton, MS and he was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed meeting with his “Chevron Friends” at the Chevron everyday for fellowship. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved rabbit hunting, fishing, deer hunting, woodworking and knife building. He was loved by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Ada Bell Blackwell; step-daughter, Vanessa Burnham; two nieces, Paige and Angela Neal.
He is survived by one sister, Gay Neal of Forest, Ms; two step-daughters, Carol Stokley of Morton, MS; Michelle Richardson and husband David of Morton, MS; three nephews, Kenny Neal and wife Cindy of Joplin, MO; Truitt Neal of Tallulah, LA; Ron Neal and wife Audrey of Forest, MS; nine step-grandchildren; a number of step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
