Brenda Jean Bassett, born on February 25, 1950, in Jackson, MS, passed away on January 28, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. She was a cherished mother, sister, and friend who left a profound impact on all who knew her. There are no services planned at this time. 

Brenda's creative spirit shone through in her love for storytelling. She had a particular fascination with wolves and penned many stories that reflected her admiration for these majestic creatures. In addition to her passion for writing, she found joy in the challenge of crossword puzzles and spent countless hours honing her skills with this beloved pastime. Her enjoyment of life extended to her relationships with her neighbors, with whom she loved to spend time, fostering a sense of community and friendship.

She is survived by her beloved son, JD Bassett, and his wife Maureen of Arlington, TX, and her son Josh Bassett and his wife Donna of Forest, MS. Brenda's legacy lives on through her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by her unwavering love and support.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Gardner, and her siblings Buddy, Johnny, Peggy Gardner, and David Brogden. She is also remembered by her surviving sisters, Betty Gardner Clements and Dianne Gardner Johnson, and her brother, Jones Brodgen, along with her sister Rose McCullough.

Brenda Jean Bassett will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her vibrant spirit and passion for storytelling will forever remain in their hearts.
