Mable Brittan

Mable Russell Brittan was born on March 3, 1927 to Tom and Lula Russell. She was one of eight children. She was born and raised in Mississippi.
She later moved to Orlando, Florida where she and her husband, Frank Brittan, built several men’s clothing stores named “The Big Man’s Store.”
In 1990 she moved back to the Forest area where she became an active member of Ephesus Baptist Church. She truly enjoyed quilting with the quilting group. Many friendships and beautiful quilts were made in that group.
Mable was a strong, hardworking woman who taught her family to be hardworking, dependable, and to love the Lord. She passed down her love for her family in each and every handmade quilt she made for each member of her family.
She had lived a very healthy life with the only health problem being a heart attack she had when she was 70. She was called home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2014.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Charles Stewart, her second husband Frank Brittan, her siblings Rufus Hayes, Wiley Hayes, Augustus Hayes, Hattie Hayes, Mary Alice Hayes, Thelma Hayes, William Russell, and three sons, Randall Stewart, Charles Stewart II, and Wayne Stewart.
She is survived by her children: Ruth Speed (Earnest) of Forest, MS, Berniece Horn (Richard) of Panama City, FL, Michael Stewart (Laura) of Ocoee, FL; grandchildren: Charles Stewart III, Meshalle Tadlock (Bobby), Corwin Stewart (Sherri), Scott Stewart (Carla), Donnie Denton (Carol), Jeffery Floyd (Doris), Paula Bryant (James), Steve Floyd (Brandy), Tonya Dunsmore (Dinny), Stephanie Barfield (Ricky), Gina May, and Heather Magee, Earnest Speed Jr. (Becky), Ricky Speed (Brittney); great-grandchildren: Danialle Tadlock, Paige Tadlock, Tyler Stewart, Hailey Stewart, Lauren Stewart, Meagan Stewart, Hailey Denton, Brandi Thibeault (Todd), Jeffery Floyd (Brandy), Cheyanna Floyd, Shawn Floyd, Jolie Floyd, Jesse Floyd, Jessica Peterson (Robert), Brandon Bryant, Andrew Floyd, Timothy Floyd, Dustin Floyd, Alissa Floyd, Joseph Floyd, John Barreotis, Thomas Barreotis, Derek Barfield (Kelsey), Zack Post, Justin Speed, Austin Speed, Mason Speed; great-great-grandchildren: Mason Griffin, Charlie Kate Peterson, and Jacob Barreotis; sister-in-law: Mary Russell of Kernersville, NC.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 26, 2014 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS., and again on Friday June 27,2014 from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at Ephesus Baptist Church in Forest, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Ephesus Baptist Church with burial in the Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS..
Pallbearers are James Bryant, Bolen Tadlock, Zackary Post, Scott Stewart, Jeffery Floyd, and Steven Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ephesus Baptist Church Quilters: Charlotte Bell, Nancy Myers, Janet Everett, Carolyn Haralson, Hazel Squires, Desiree May and Erika Haralson.
