Gladys C. Burkes, 67, a resident of Morton, MS passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at her residence. Visitation will be at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 10:00 am until 1:50 pm and funeral will be at 2:00 pm in the chapel, with burial following in Morton Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Robertson. Eulogies will be by Brenda Campbell and Mike Campbell. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton will be in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burkes had lived in Morton, MS for the past forty years, moving from Batesville, MS, and she was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church in Morton, MS. She loved flower gardening and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis L. Burkes, Sr. in 1992; and her parents, John Paul and Nellie Crosswhite.
She is survived by one daughter Becky Lockert and husband Joe of Morton, MS; one son, Lamar Burkes of Morton, MS; two sisters, Judy Crosswhite of Batesville, MS; Edna Raymond of Batesville, MS; three brothers, Roger Crosswhite, Buck Crosswhite, and Billy Wayne Green all of Batesville, MS; six grandchildren, Lindsay Lockert, Dakota Lockert, Rooster Stevens, Jake Stevens, Lance Merchant, and Curt Burkes and his mother Ginny Arinder; and one great-grandchild, Nolan Stephens.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Lockert, Rooster Stevens, Jake Stevens, Steven Turbville, Lance Merchant, Daniel Stephens, Jr. Hines, Curt Burkes. Honorary pallbearer will be Scott Windham.
