Carey Earl Stroud, Sr.

Carey Earl Stroud, Sr., age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, MS. His memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church in Lake, MS. Bro. Larry Duncan will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services. 

 Carey was born on August 12, 1948, to William Daniel Stroud and Fannie Perkins in Lake, MS. He was a lifelong resident of Lake, MS. Carey was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Lake, MS. He was a devoted man of faith. Carey was deeply committed to his family and church. His love for God was evident in every aspect of his life. For many years he was a beloved school bus driver for the Scott County School District. He was known for his warm smile and his humor. Carey loved attending church where he found great joy in worship and fellowship and cherished his time Sunday School Class. Outside of church, he loved spending time with his family and taking road trips with dear friends.  He will be missed by all.

Carey is survived by his wife, Doreen Stroud of Lake, MS, his seven children, Carey Stroud, Jr., of Kosciusko, MS, Joshua Stroud of Kosciusko, MS, Tori Patterson, of Clinton, MS, Olivia Joiner of Lake, MS, Alicia Stroud of Forest, MS, Christy Bell of Forest, MS and Mandy Broomhall on Manchester, MO, his two step-children, Joy Smercak of Union, MS and David Clark of Virginia; his thirty grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
