Clyde “Bill” William Gillette, age 81, passed away on January 11, 2024 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Bill was born in Alexandria, LA on February 15, 1942. He lived in Alexandria, LA with his father Charles C. Gillette, his mother Alma Gillette, and his brother Charlie. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy, and was a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis, serving in the blockade preventing Russian vessels delivery of missiles to Cuba. After serving time in the military, he launched a career with International Paper Company, working in the lumbar industry into the 1980’s. After retirement Bill pursued his love of the outdoors and fishing, especially fishing, for many years, and built a community of friends and family who cherished his quick smile and enthusiasm behind the karaoke machine.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Gillette and Alma Gillette, and his brother Charlie Gillette. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline (Timothy) Phillips of Morton, MS; his three sons, William Gillette of Washington State, Gary Gillette (Elicia) of Oklahoma, and Michael Gillette of Virginia; his six grandchildren, Virginia Gillette, Cory Giess, Erin Hoffman (Parker), Megan Propst (Zach), David Herz and Kelly Mathis his five great grandchildren, Sutton Hoffman, Charlie Ann Propst, Owen Propst, Silas Propst and Garrett Propst.
