Amy Cooper Beard, 87, a resident of Morton passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. Visitation was Monday, December 27, 2010 at Wolf Funeral Services from 4:00 until 7:30 pm and again Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 8:30 until 9:30 am and services were at Springfield Baptist Church at 10:00 am with burial following in the Springfield Baptist Cemetery. Officiating was Dr. Frank Lay and Rev. Paul Smith. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Amy was a lifelong resident of the Springfield Community and was a lifetime member of Springfield Baptist Church in Morton, MS where she taught Sunday School Class for many years. She loved visiting with the elderly and shut-ins and she loved reading and sewing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall H. Beard, Jr. in 1986.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean Jacob and husband Tip of Madison; Shirley Bell and husband Joe of Lena; Marcia Purvis and husband Lavon of Polkville; three sons, Cooper Beard and wife Becky of Morton; Dan Beard and wife Betty of Morton; Bill Beard and wife Michelle of Morton; one sister, Jean Moore of Newton; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and two nephews.
Pallbearers were Andy Bill Brooks, Scott Bell, Matt Bell, Mark Purvis, Duncan Beard, Lee Beard, and Randy Phillipson.
Memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Village or Springfield Baptist Church.
