Neva Jean Davis, 81, a resident of Pelahatchie, MS passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest, MS. Visitation will be at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Thursday, August 01, 2013 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm and on Friday, August 02, 2013 from 9:00 until 9:45 am. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 02, 2013 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS with burial in the Sims Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Barry Corbett. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis had lived in Pelahatchie, MS since 1976, moving from Morton, MS where she had lived from 1966-1976 and she was a member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church. She was an active member of the choir, active member of the Ruth Sunday School Class at Pelahatchie Baptist Church. She served as the Director of the WMU for many years at her church and past member of the Morton Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pearlie Avera; one sister, Marie Avera; one brother, J.W. Avera.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ed Davis of Pelahatchie, MS; one son, Don Davis and wife Julie of Pelahatchie, MS; one daughter, Jill Davis of Canton, MS; one sister, Beatrice Cameron of Forest, MS; one brother, Robert Avera of Georgetown, TX; sister-in-law, Vondell Avera of Quitman, MS; three grandchildren, Derek Davis, Brett Davis, Carolyn Jean Williams; and a number nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. John Paul Lee, Lackey Convalescent Home and staff, and Fresenius Dialysis Medical Care and staff for the care they gave to our love one while she was there.
Pallbearers will be John Ray Davis, Jimmy King, Harry Holmes, Bobby Warren, Derek Davis and Brett Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be L.C. Macklin and Gene Givens.
