John D. Edwards, 89, a resident of Forest passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at his residence. Visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services Friday, October 29, 2010 from 5:30 until 9:00 pm and again Saturday from 8:00 am until 12:45 pm and the services were in the chapel at 1:00 pm with burial following in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery. Officiating was Elder George Gardner and Rev. Bobby Warren. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Edwards was a lifelong resident of the Steele Community and he was a member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church of Forest, MS. He loved gardening and squirrel hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nellie Edwards; one son, Tommy Edwards; five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Christine Edwards, Steele; two daughters, Sue Hamm and husband Sam, Forest; Cathy Watson and husband Andrew, Hillsboro; three sons, John Milton Edwards and wife Joann, Forest; Bobby Edwards, Houston, TX; Don Edwards and wife Cheryl, Wichita, KS; one sister, Frances Risk, Gulfport; 27 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ricky Edwards, Eric Blanton, Michael Edwards, Stephen Edwards, Ricky Edwards, Jr., and Bobby James Watson. Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Johnson and Robert Houston.(www.wolffuneralservices.com)
