Rodger Dale Ellis

Mr. Rodger Dale Ellis, age 63, passed away on Thursday October 31, 2019 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 3, 2019 from 3:00PM until 6:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton. A second visitation is scheduled for Monday November 4, 2019 from 10:00AM until 10:50AM at Linwood Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 6, 2019 at 11:00AM at Linwood Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Linwood Baptist Church Cemetery. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton is in charge of the arrangements.
Born on June 29, 1956, Rodger had lived in Meridian for the last three years. Before that, he resided in the Newton and Philadelphia area. Rodger loved to whittle, enjoyed hunting, fishing and work in general. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making people laugh. Most of all, Rodger loved his children, grandchildren and dog Bouncer unconditionally.
Rodger is survived by his significant other of 20 years, Vickie Lanter; his children, Bobbie Barnes (Greg) of Pulaski, Patrick Ellis of Chunky, Mathew Ellis (Brittany) of Union, Joshua Sam Ellis of Union and Rodger Dale Ellis, Jr. (Amanda) of Sunrise; step children, Amber Page, Josh Lanter and Laura Rutenburg all of Gulfport; siblings, William Ellis (Nancy) of Carthage, Gail Baldwin of Raleigh, and Teresa Putnam (David) of Forest; 11 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren. Rodger is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Clyda Savelle as well as Henry and Lena Ellis; parents, Morris and Bobbie Jean Savelle; and his wife, Terry Ellis.
