Mrs. Marie Floyd, age 87, passed away Wednesday January 9, 2019 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held Friday January 18, 2019 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Services will be held Saturday January 19, 2019 at 11:00AM at Union Grove Baptist Church in Forest, MS. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in Morton, MS. There will be no graveside services due to inclement weather. Repast will follow at Scott County District Baptist Association in Morton, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Namon Womack. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Marie Floyd has been a Resident of Scott County for over fifty years The Lord saw that she was tired and called her to rest in Him. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ellen White; her husband, Mr. Clettoy Floyd; her brother, Mr. Kirby White; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Townsend-Gammage and Ercell White; her son, Mr. John Floyd; and two beloved grandchildren, Kenneth Watson and Trina Hughes.
Mrs. Floyd accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Pleasant Gift Church in Forkville, MS and later became a faithful member of Shiloh M.B. Church in Morton, MS for over 40 years where she served faithfully as an Usher for over 30 years. She was also an Eastern Star Member in the Scott County Chapter for several years. She had a true love for God and God’s word.
Mrs. Marie Floyd lived several years in Jeannette, PA and returned home to Morton, MS where she had been retired for over 25 years. In her later years, she loved to garden, paint, and shop. She loved to plant flowers in the Spring and enjoyed the beauty of watching them bloom while relaxing on her front porch. She treasured her family and friends dearly and always believed in showing charity and kindness to others. She loved her neighbors and treated them like family.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Sisters: Mrs. Armie Lee Walls and Mrs. Bernice Pearson both of Moorhead, MS; children: Bonnie (Arnie) Clark of Wiggins, MS; Eddie Lee (Helen) Floyd of Morton, MS, Desser Ree (James) Lockett of Puckett, MS, Shirley Watson of Morton, MS, Mary Alice Floyd of Hattiesburg, MS., Wendy Floyd (Charles Rayford); step-daughter Bertha (Wilson) Hughes of Hillsboro, MS; eleven grandchildren three of which she nurtured like her own; Nahoma (Clarence) Webb of Gulfport, MS; Donta Floyd of Pittsburgh, PA; and Angelica Lloyd of Morton, MS; twenty great-grand children, one god daughter, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
