Michael Darwin Fortenberry, 61, of Ridgeland, MS passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Dominic- Jackson Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 10:00 am until 10:50 am. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the chapel with a graveside service following at 2:00 pm in the State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Officiating will be Elder Mickey Myers. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake will be in charge of arrangements.
Michael Fortenberry had lived in Ridgeland, MS for the past twenty years and attended the Pine Lake Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. He loved writing songs and playing the guitar. Before his failing health, he worked for various car dealerships throughout the state. He also enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Cleo Fortenberry.
He is survived by his wife, Cherryann Fortenberry, of Ridgeland, MS; one son, Michael Shane Fortenberry, of Starkville, MS; two daughters, Kristin Lea Fortenberry, of Flora, MS, and Kelsey Fortenberry, of Pearl, MS; two brothers, David Fortenberry, of Nashville, TN, and Frank Fortenberry of Brandon, MS; and six grandchildren.
