Van M. "Pete" Fortenberry

Mr. Van M. “Pete” Fortenberry, age 73, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, at his residence in Forest, MS. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 9:30 AM until 10:50 AM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Forest, MS. Services will take place at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Cemetery in Forest, MS. Bro. Tony Fortenberry and Bro. Daniel Fortenberry will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Pete was born to Alfred Fortenberry and Irene Lampkin on April 25, 1949, in Rankin County, MS. He has lived in the Piketon Community for the pasted 54 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Irene Fortenberry; brother, Billy Fortenberry; sister, Patricia Fortenberry. Pete is survived by his wife, Ruby Shelley Fortenberry of Forest, MS; sons, Tony Fortenberry (Diane) of West, MS; daughter, Joy Johnson (Jerry) of Forest, MS; two grandchildren, Daniel Fortenberry and Harley Fortenberry; two great-grandchildren, Owen Fortenberry and Eli Fortenberry and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
