Mrs. Billie Margaret Gardner, age 86, passed away on Thursday January 19, 2017 at the Madden Lighthouse in Madden, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday January 22, 2017 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM and again on Monday January 23, 2017 from 9:30AM until 10:50AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 23, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, MS. Burial will follow in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery in Forest, MS. Elder Hilton Moore, Elder Chris Hollingsworth, and Elder Randy Dillon will officiate. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gardner, born May 29, 1930, was a lifelong resident of the Ringgold Community in Scott County and was a member of the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in Newton County, MS. She taught school for thirty-eight years, the last twenty-eight years being at Scott Central High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Ellen Guthrie; one son, Larry Andrew Gardner in 1957; and her son-in-law, John L. Dennis. She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Stites Gardner, Jr. of Forest, MS; three children, Lynn Dennis of Massillon, OH, Arlon Gardner (Peth) of Forest, MS, and Kendall Gardner (Debra) of Forest, MS; one brother, Pace Guthrie of Forest, MS; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Larry Bradford, Buck Wolf, Kenneth Warren, Sammy Burgess, Al Bailey, Mitchell Gardner and Ryan Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pete Riser, Alfred Bailey, Jessie Robinson, Danny Thrash and Dr. Michael Sayre.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and owners of the Madden Lighthouse, and to her personal caregivers, Christina Hart, Ruby Gunn, Rosemary Latham, Janet Chambers, and many others.
