Daisy Burnham Garrett, 104, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away at her residence Monday, November 21, 2011. There will be a visitation held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm and again on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from 9:30 until 10:45 am. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 am in the chapel with burial following in Holly Bush Methodist Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Knight, Rev. Percy Campbell, and Rev. Gene Van Every. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS will be handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Garrett had lived in the Holly Bush Community in Rankin County for most all of her life and she was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church in Morton, MS. She had worshipped at the Line Creek Baptist Church for over 50 yrs. She was a home lover and she enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors. She loved to read, work math problems and watch sports on TV. She was the last survivor of the Leonard and Minerva Winstead Burnham Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fines Garrett in 1971, granddaughter, Gwen Massey Gregory, four sisters, and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Jimmie Massey of Pelahatchie, MS; and her son, F.J. Garrett and wife Mattie of Pelahatchie, MS; one grandchild, Steve Garrett; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Garrett, Bo Garrett, Ty Garrett, James Harrell, Bobby Warren, and John Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis May, Sidney McLaurin, and Jack Gregory.
