Jackie Dale Gilbert, 52, a resident of Forest, MS passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at his residence. Visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm and Saturday, November 23, 2012 from 9:00 until 10:45 am. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 in the chapel at 11:00 am with burial following in the Goodwater Baptist Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Clayborn Huff, Rev. Jerry Hamilton, and Rev. Robert Fortenberry. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton will be in charge of arrangements.
Jackie was a lifelong resident of Forest, MS and was a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church in Forest, MS. He served his country in the Army National Guard, where he retired after 21 years of service. While in the National Guard he served as a mechanic and a cannon crew member. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, mud ride, and shoot pool. He also loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Watson Junior Gilbert and brother, Jerry Kenneth Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gilbert of Forest; mother, Lora Mae Gilbert of Forest; daughter, Tasha May and husband Joey of Forest, MS; sons, Saint Steward of Forest, MS; Ricky Gilbert of Forest, MS; step-daughters, Cheri Bray and husband John of Forest, MS; Angela Howell of Forest, MS; step-son, John Anthony Howell of Forest, MS; sisters, Bobbye Johnson of Arizona; Rita Babb of Pearl, MS; Patsy Walker of Forest, MS; Wanda Clark of Mendenhall, MS; brother, David Gilbert of Brandon, MS; fifteen grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers will be the Military.
