Hope Harrell has been a resident of Morton for the past year. She and her husband, Larry, moved here from their home in Goodman. Hope had been a longtime member of the Durant Church of Christ until moving to Morton. She has since attended Line Creek Baptist Church.
Hope’s strong faith comforted her with the fact that even though she was living with a terminal illness, that it was not her fate. She knew that she would spend eternity with her Savior. She would say, “I’m not dying with cancer, I’m living with it.” Anyone who knew Hope, was aware of her huge collection of porcelain and ceramic angels. She had angels of every size adorning the walls of their home. We are comforted to know that she now can spread her wings and fly like the angels she loved so much.
Hope worked outside the home all of her adult years, she was a hair dresser and a seamstress, but at the age of 47 decided to go to college…. She then worked as a nurse. She retired from nursing last year when diagnosed with cancer. Her patients loved her and she loved them. Nursing was truly her calling.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents Shorty and Lucille Devine, parents-in-law Houston and May Bell Harrell, grand-daughter Ainsley Sykes, brothers-in-law CD Pickle and Ricky Davis. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry Harrell, their children, Connie (and Kevin) Gainey and their children Nick and Bo Bradley and Max and Makayla Belle Gainey; Lanette (and Ritch) Kuroda and their children Kalani and Kalei; Larry Dale Harrell (and Lou Boykin) and children TJ Boykin, Keith Boykin, Dwayne Traxler, Houston Harrell, Justin Harrell, and Breckon Harrell; and Rose Mary Harrell (and Cory Shelton) and children Glen and Kaitlyn and Gregory Nowell and Joshua Shelton; and her siblings Barbara Davis, Patricia Pickle, Buster Devine and Perry (and Gylia) Devine and many great-grandchildren.
