Mr. Virgil Homer Harrison, 90, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson, MS . Visitation will be held at Jesus Name House of Prayer in Sylvarena, MS on Tuesday February 2, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:50 with Funeral Services to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at Gasque Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Davy Hammons and Bro Reggie Chisholm will officiate.
Mr. Harrison was born in Scott County, MS on December 4, 1930 to the late Allie Alberta Harmon and John Homer Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Scott & Smith counties. He was a dedicated member of the Jesus Name House of Prayer. He was a devoted father, an avid outdoorsman who, loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was known for growing the best tomatoes and watermelons. Every year he always gave his first harvest to family, friends and strangers. He loved to sing and dance and always had a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Homer and Allie Alberta Harmon Harrison, Brothers Clarence Harrison, Junior Harrison, Jimmy Harrison, and Johnny Harrison; Sisters Willie May King, Frances Burns and Ida McWilliams. Daughter Brenda Kay McMullan; Granddaughter Brandi Baldwin; Son-n-laws Henry Jeffcoats and Ernie Dawson. He is survived by his seven children; six daughters, Bonnie Jeaffcoats, Brandon, MS; Linda Dawson Whitwell, TN; Shelia Ratcliff (Lee), Homewood, MS; Teresa May (Lloyd) Raleigh, MS; Debbie Ma’a’s (Stanley) Raleigh, MS; Melina Westbrook (Danny), Sylvarena, MS; one son Danny Harrison (Rhonda) Anacoco. LA sisters, Odell “Sis” Richardson, Homewood, MS and Billie Gibbs, Morton, MS. 23 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren.
