Rev. David D. Holt, age 79, passed away on Sunday April 22, 2018 at his home in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 24, 2018 from 5:30PM until 7:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at 11:00AM at Parkway Baptist Church in Morton, MS with Bro. Bob Smith, Dr. Victor Carter, and Bro. Belton Mathis officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30PM in the Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton, MS. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Rev. Holt, a native of Lake, MS, had lived in Morton, MS for the past thirty-five years where he moved from Jackson, MS. He started his ministry at McDowell Road Baptist Church, then pastored in Neshoba and Newton County, Natchez, MS, and ended his ministry at Parkway Baptist Church where he was currently still a member. He was very active in Prison Ministry and participated in the campground ministry at Roosevelt State Park for several years. Rev. Holt proudly served his country in the Air Navy and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He had a deep love for playing golf, listening to music, and flying in airplanes. He would talk to and provoke his family into becoming Christians and he lived to serve the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie French Holt and Mattie Jane Mowdy Holt; his daughter, Kimberly Laura Holt; three brothers, J.C, James, and Willie Frank Holt; two sisters, Belle Holt Manton and Opal J. Holt Armstrong. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jean Westbrook Holt of Morton, MS; one son, Jeff Holt (Regina) of McComb, MS; one daughter, Teresa Moore (Reese) of Flowood, MS; two sisters, Kate Mathis of Clinton, MS and Betty Moudy of Morton, MS; five grandchildren, Wendy, Lauren, Kristyn, Brianna, and Jared; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Allen Moudy, Ernie Easterling, Lee Easterling, Reese Moore, Daniel Moudy, and Stephen Moudy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin Easterling, Sammy Regions, Billy Bufkin, James Davis, Bobby Jolly, David Mathis, Robert Manton, Clint Williams, Paul Moudy, Will Holt, and Jimmy Holt.
