Johnnie Hurtt age 82 a resident of Forest, MS passed away Wednesday December 3, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be held on Friday December 5, 2014 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Saturday December 6, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday December 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services. Burial will follow in the Harperville Cemetery in Forest, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Joey Smith and Rev. David McLaurin. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hurt had lived in Forest, MS since 1970 formerly living in Neshoba County, MS. He attended the Ridge Baptist Church in Forest, MS. He was a U.S Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict and he was a lifetime member and past Commander of the VFW Post #4974 in Forest, MS and a member of the American Legion Post #9 in Forest, MS. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and camping. Mr. Hurtt was the retired owner of Johnnie’s Alignment in Forest, MS.
Mr. Hurtt is preceded in death by his wife, Earline Hurtt; two brothers, Willie Hurtt, Richard Hurtt; two sisters, Inez Neeley, Esther Mae Burkett.
Mr. Hurtt is survived by his loving wife, Sue Hurtt of Forest, MS.; one daughter, Judy Hurtt of Forest, MS; one son, Dwight Hurtt of Forest, MS; one step-son, Dale King of Forest, MS.; one step- daughter, Kay Thornton of Morton, MS.; two grandchildren, Christy Westby-Gibson and husband Gerry of Ridgeland, MS., Brittany Gibbs of Forest, MS.; six great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; ten step great -grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Butch Barton, Clay Harmon, Melvin Wilson, Steve Wilbourne, Jeffery Craig, Robert King,Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Pettigrew, Johnny Barfield, Sr., Bill Wilbourne, Members of the VFW Post #4974.
