Donald Joseph Kaskie, 80, of Forest, MS, passed away on April 12, 2011, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS.
Don was born in Rock Valley, Iowa on March 4, 1931. After serving in the U.S. Army, he joined Cudahy Packing Company in 1952 and held positions in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Mississippi. Don and his wife Patricia moved to Forest in 1955 and were founding members of Saint Michael Catholic Church. Don retired in 2003 as Comptroller for Lady Forest Farms.
Survivors include his wife, Pat and eight children: Stephen Kaskie, Hazlehurst, Ms.; Michael Kaskie, Prairie Village, KS; Kathleen Risher, Houston, TX; Mark Kaskie, Forest, MS; Julianne France, Houston, TX; Reverend Brian Kaskie, McComb, MS; Kristin (Al) Hagan, Houston, TX; and Daniel (Alicia) Kaskie, Richmond, TX; seven grandchildren: Andrew Kaskie and Katie (Jason) Hodges, Hazlehurst, MS; Rachel and Mitchell Kaskie, Prairie Village, KS, and Adam, Allison and Ryan France, Houston, TX; one great-grandchild, Lillian Hodges, Hazlehurst, MS. Don is also survived by his brothers Bernie Kaskie, Lennox, SD and Leonard Kaskie, Inwood, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Kathryn, and his sister, Sally.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Forest on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather after the service at the parish hall.
For those who wish to do so, memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church of Catholic Charities, in lieu of flowers.
