On Thursday, December 28, 2017, Rickey Lynn Latham passed away suddenly at the age of 61 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS. Rickey will forever be remembered by his wife and best friend Paula (Puckett) Latham; their four daughters and their spouses, Alissa and Jeremy Gibbs of Forest, MS; Emily and Daniel Herring of Petal, MS; Bethany Latham of Brandon, MS; and Gloriana and Victor Diaz of Forest, MS; and two special nieces and their spouses, Tara and Sam Hall of Brandon, MS; and Kristen and Allen Lanier of Decatur, MS. He will also forever be remembered by his eleven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Jean (Latham) Harper, and brother-in-law, Gary Harper of Florence, MS.
A former pastor of several churches in central Mississippi, Rickey is remembered for his love for others and compassionate heart. His youth was spent in pool halls and game rooms, where he shared the gospel message with other young people. He loved ministering to people, laughing with those that he loved, and being in the presence of his Savior. In later years, Rickey loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren—even more than watching Ole Miss football.
A visitation service will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. and interment at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Forkville, MS, immediately following.
Memorial donations may be made to Church of the King in Morton, MS, which will then be used to purchase Gideon Bibles in Rickey’s honor.
