Miriam Burgess Pace

December 3, 1938 — September 6, 2024

Meridian

Annie Miriam Burgess Pace, age 85, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 6, 2024, in Meridian, Mississippi. Miriam was born on December 3, 1938, in Pocahontas, Mississippi to JD and Louise Teasley Burgess as the oldest of nine children. After graduating from Clinton High School, Miriam spent a large portion of her life in Lake, Mississippi, where she raised her four children. She spent the majority of her working life at BellSouth and AT&T telephone companies. She later worked at Upton-Neal in Pearl, Mississippi, before retiring to spend time with her friends and family.

“MeMe” as she was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought years of joyful memories to her large family and many friends. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, and prior to her decline in health, she enjoyed attending the annual Burgess family reunion held at Percy Quin State Park in McComb, Mississippi. She loved thrift shopping, sewing, and cooking her famous chocolate pies and chicken and dumplings. Always elegantly dressed, MeMe never left home without her favorite scarf, belt, or necklace.

Miriam is preceded in death by her parents, JD and Louise Burgess; her former husband and father of her children, Roger Pace; her brothers, Johnny Burgess and Billy Burgess; and a grandson, Seth Michael Pace.

She is survived by her four children: Derek Pace (Patty) of House, Mississippi, and their children, Brian and Benjamin; Stan Pace (Kathy) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and their children, David, Leslie (Zach), Emily, and Alyssa; Rebecca Lynn Monk (Stacy) of Hickory, Mississippi, and their children, Ryan (Krystle) and Regan (Madelyn); and Cliff Pace (Tracy) of Canton, Georgia, and their children, Shaoey, Sadie, Charlie, and Jake. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and by her loving brothers, Jimmie Burgess (Sarah), Robert Burgess (Chris), George Burgess (Barbara), Donnie Burgess (Peggie), Steve Burgess (Linda), her beloved baby sister, Pamela Parker, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
