Mary Jewel Duncan, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Lackey Memorial Hospital, Forest, MS. Her visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Friday, October 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Her services will take place in our Funeral Home Chapel at Noon. Her Burial will follow at Sharon Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Lake, MS. Bro. David Mock and Bro. Andy Boles will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Mary was born on August 8, 1942, to R. C. Fortenberry and Maggie J. Ward in Scott County, MS. Mary had lived in Forest and Lake, MS for many years, formerly living in Newton County, MS. She was a member of Embrace Church in Forest, MS. Mary loved birdwatching, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, R. C. and Maggie Fortenberry, her first husband, Allen Dale Gullette and her second husband, Irby Duncan, her son, Timothy Gullette, her brother, Jamie “Buddy” Fortenberry, her sisters, Shirley Myatt, Annie Griffin and Clara Myers. She is survived by her two children, Jennifer Stevens (Scott) of Philadelphia, MS and Jason Duncan (Towanda) of Mendenhall, MS, her two sisters, Nelda Applewhite of Walnut Grove, MS and Linda Carr of Lake, MS; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Marlon Gullette, Bubba Gullette, Shane Breland, Matthew Nester, Gerald Crimm and Jarrett Myers.
