Paquita “Jeannie” Alvey, age 82, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her residence in Lake, MS. Her memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Her services will take place at 3:00 PM in our Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jess Dilley will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Jeannie was born in Morton, MS to Jim Weeks and Eva Dee Eady on May 11, 1942. She had lived in Lake, MS for the past fifteen years after moving home from Austin, TX. Jeannie was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake, MS. She was a member of Magnolia Dixie Chics Line Dancing group. Jeannie loved to bowl, and travel. She was very active in the Ladies Group at her church and was a loyal volunteer at The Crisis Center of Hope. Her passion was volunteering at the Library in Lake where she was the President of the Library Club. Jeannie loved books and was a passionate reader. She had read her Bible 13 times, and she loved animals of all kinds.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Alvey, her parents, Jim and Eva Dee Weeks, and her grandson, Logan Gibbs. She is survived by her two children, Britt Gibbs (Tammy) of Union, MS, and Derek Gibbs (Missy) of Colorado; her sister, Priscilla Cooksey of Lake, MS; her three grandchildren, Jonathan Gibbs (Brooke) of Union, MS, Grant Gibbs (Kaitlyn) of Collinsville, MS and Eva Gibbs (Corbin) of Lubbock, TX and her four great-grandchildren, Hadleigh McKee, Fisher Gibbs, Bexleigh Gibbs, and Charlotte Gibbs.
In lieu of flowers, she asks donations be made to “Friends of the Lake Public Library”.
