Her compassion knew no bounds, and she treated every person she met with love and respect.
Penny's family was at the center of her world. As a wonderful wife to her husband Doug Benson of Pelahatchie, she exemplified partnership and unconditional support. She was a loving mother to her son Brian "Boogie Man" Benson and his wife Kristin, both of whom brought immense joy to her life. Penny embraced her role as Nana to her two delightful grandchildren, Anna Grace Benson and Emery Elizabeth Rose Benson, who were the pride and joy of her heart. In her eyes, they could do no wrong, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A daughter to the late Jessie and Willie Smith, Penny carried forward the family values instilled in her by her parents. She shared a special bond with her sister, Shirley Harper, and brother-in-law Ray, who were always there to cherish memories with her and provide support through life's journey.
