James Daniel Porter

James Daniel Porter, 67, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM and on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 10:00AM until 10:50AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton. At 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 13,2023, a Eulogy will be shared by Kell Stovall in the Funeral Home Chapel. The family will then go in procession to Lodebar Methodist Church in Pelahatchie for a Funeral Service. Burial will follow at the Lodebar Cemetery. TJ Porter will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
James was born to Jesse Lee and Jennive May Porter on November 5, 1955, in Morton, MS. He lived his entire life in the Morton area. James loved hunting, fishing and the rodeo. He was known as a good and honest man. James would not take place in gossip or talk bad about anyone who wasn’t there to defend themselves. He instilled his morals and values in his daughters. Most of all, James loved his wife.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Jennive Porter and brother, Buddy Porter. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Irma Jewel “Bunchie” Porter; daughters, Jennive Stovall (Kell) of Wagoner, OK, Jamie Porter (Milton Davis) of Morton, MS, and Jessica Ray (Chris) of Flowood, MS; sisters, Irene Boykin of Pelahatchie, MS, Lucy Harrell of Pelahatchie, MS and Phyllis Caldell of Morton, MS; six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
