Lamar “Uncle Joe” Prestage, 74, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away Wednesday, August 03, 2011 at River Oaks Hospital, Flowood, MS. Visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services on Thursday August 04, 2011 from 5:30 until 9:00 pm and again on Friday August 05, 2011 from 10:00 am until 1:45 pm. Funeral services were at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home with burial following in the Farm Rest Cemetery. Officiating was Bro. David Bryant and Bro. Joseph Oster. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Prestage had lived in Leesburg, MS for the past 32 yrs and was a member of First Baptist Church of Satartia, MS. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to deer hunt and loved to watch all kinds of ballgames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tressie Prestage; one grandson, Luke Prestage; and fourteen other siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Dot Prestage of Leesburg; three children, Debbie Shoemaker and husband Jerry of Leesburg; Mike Thorne and wife Krista of Frederickburg, VA; Allen Prestage and wife Diane of Leesburg; three brothers, K.E. Prestage and wife Mayola of Pearl; A.D. Prestage and wife Lula of Canton; Aubrey Prestage and wife Alice of Pearl; three sisters, Evon Stewart of Lena; Louise Isonhood and husband J.B. of Tinsley; Linda Hearst and husband Lenny of Yazoo City; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Paul Pruett, William Prestage, Marcus Varnes, Milton Stewart, Mike Prestage, and Glenn Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Co-workers of Delta Steel.
