Joyce McKenzie Red, 91, of Forest passed away Monday, August 15 at The Arbor Nursing Home. She lived at The Waterford in Ridgeland, MS from 2009 to June of 2016. She was married for 42 years to the late Niles Red, owner of Red’s Pharmacy in Forest for many years. A devoted wife and mother, Joyce invested much of her time, energy and love in her family. She was also an active long-time member of Forest United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed serving in various ministries through the years. She loved watching college sports and always supported and enjoyed the musical activities of her children. She and her husband cherished the fellowship with life-long friends in two supper clubs in Forest.
She is survived by two children: Kim Fowler and husband Wade of Ridgeland; Lori Miller and husband Todd of Kingwood, TX.; four step-grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Herman McKenzie and wife Loyce and by her sister, Beverly Ashmore and husband Jim.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, Herman Lamar McKenzie and Maude Freeman McKenzie.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, at Forest United Methodist Church with a private burial following in Eastern Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
