Barbara Massey Rutledge, 73, a resident of Harperville passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Mississippi Care Center. Visitation was Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm and again Wednesday 10:00 until 11:45 am and services were at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the funeral home with burial following in Harperville Memorial Park. Officiating was Rev. Paul Smith. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rutledge had lived in Harperville for the past 50 yrs and she was a member of the Harperville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rutledge enjoyed traveling and singing, especially to the residents at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Rutledge in 2001; her parents, Lamar and Retha Massey; step-mother, Edith Mae Massey; sister, Diane Massey.
She is survived by her son, Randy (Joyce) Rutledge, Forest; her daughter, Janet (Joe) Stevens, Forest; two half-sisters, Cheryl Sims and Beverly Falgo, Jackson; half-brother, Jerome Massey, Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Peggy (Davis) Sistrunk, Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Christopher Rutledge, Christopher Massey, Rebecca Wicker, Kristy Stevens and Matthew Stevens; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Massey, Brandon Massey, Savannah Rutledge and Ashton Stevens.
Pallbearers were Joe Stevens, James Watkins, Chris Rutledge, Troy Turner, Richard Havard and Davis Sistrunk. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Wicker and Scottie May.
