Z.T. Scales, Jr. “Pistol”, 65, a resident of Morton passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at his residence. Visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 5:00 until 9:00 pm and on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 1:00 until 2:45 pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm in the chapel with burial following in the Morton City Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Lott. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton will be in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scales was a lifelong resident of Morton and was a member of the All Seasons Worship Center, Forest, MS. He served on the Morton Search & Rescue for many years and he was a former Deputy for the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and was the Fire Chief for the Morton Volunteer Fire Department years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Z.T. Scales, Sr. and Evelyn Walker Scales and his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Scales and one brother, Gerald Wayne Scales.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Scales of Morton; two sons, Stephen Ray Scales of Morton; John David Scales of Morton; one daughter, Rebecca Shows Hamilton of Morton; one step-son, Joshua Hamilton of Morton; 3 step-daughters, Stephanie Hunter Rushing, Saraland, AL; Jennifer Adair of Pearl; Kristi Hunter of Newton; one sister, Patsy Peavy of Morton; two brothers, Dalton Scales of Morton; Ray Scales of Magee; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Scott Wheeler, Joey Scales, Jason Peavy, Michael Risher, Josh Merchant, and Robbie Wallace.
