Hubert L. Shoemaker

February 7, 1925 — September 3, 2019

Hubert L Shoemaker age 94, passed away Tuesday September 3, 2019 at his home in Ludlow, MS surrounded by his three daughters. Visitation will be held Thursday September 5th 2019 at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS from 9:00 AM until 10:50AM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday September 5th 2019 at Wolf Funeral Services Chapel at 11:00 AM with Reverend Michael Bradley, Reverend Jim Burns and Reverend Dan Panter officiating. Burial will follow at Ludlow Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons with honorary pallbearers, John Latham, Alton Parker and Paul David Crawford.

Mr. Shoemaker is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Nelda Faye Kelly and his parents Manarie Shoemaker and Maggie Parker. He is survived by his three children; Linda ( Joel) Puckett of Ludlow, MS, Judy ( Dan) Smith of Mendenhall, MS, Janna Gaddis of Fayetteville Arkansas; seven grand-children, Brian ( Karen) Davidson, Rhonda ( Michael) Bradley, Chris ( Leigh Anne) Crotwell, Shaun ( Carmen) Crotwell, Jason (Leslie) Crotwell, Jennifer Kelly and Jay ( Trisha) Riser and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shoemaker served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. After being drafted in the 11th grade, he completed his Army induction at Camp Shelby and headed out for basic training near Aniston and Gadsden Alabama in 1943. He served his country in the Pacific theater from 1943 until 1946. On March 3, 1946, the same year he completed his military service, he married the love of his life, Nelda Faye Kelly. Together they raised their three children in Scott County, MS. He was an active member of Ludlow Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 25 years, coached church softball, was an ordained deacon, served on many committees and served in any way he was called upon. He loved to fish and rabbit hunt and above all, he loved God, Country and Family. He will be greatly missed by his family, church and community. His daughters would like to thank Miss Winnie Kincaid for her faithful care and loving devotion to Daddy during the past three years.
