Irma Schaefer Simmons, 86, a resident of Forest passed away Tuesday, August 02, 2011 at her residence. Visitation will be held at Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Forest on Saturday, August 06, 2011 from 8:30 am until 1:55 pm and funeral services will follow at the church at 2:00 pm with burial in Mt. Carmel Baptist Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. James Maddox and Rev. Charlie Cook. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Simmons had lived in the Mt. Carmel Community in Smith County since 1983 moving from St. Bernard, LA.. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Forest, MS. and she formerly attended Reggio Baptist Church in St. Bernard, LA. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts and her passion was helping people of her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Simmons; one daughter, Jo Ann Raines.
She is survived by her two sons, Myles Buras of Pass Christian, MS and Keith Buras of St. Bernard, LA; two sisters Marie Watson of Lancing, TN, and Dorothy Roux of New Orleans, LA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
