James Robert Thomas (J.R.) was born June 27, 1960 in Hinds County, Mississippi to Estella Lane Thomas and the late Charlie Thomas. He departed this life on August 1, 2014, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation was held on Friday August 8, 2014 from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Visitation was held on Saturday August 9, 2014 from 12 Noon until 12:55 PM at Greater Holy Hill Church in Morton, MS. Funeral Services were held on Saturday August 9, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Greater Holy Hill Church with burial following in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Morton, MS. Repast was held in the home of Bonnie and James Thomas 121 Boxx Street Morton, MS. 39117. Officiating was Rev. Neal Keeton. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Thomas was a devoted and caring person, always helping his friends and neighbors whenever needed. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and dance.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Thomas. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 35 years, Bonnie Clark Thomas of Morton, MS.; mother, Estella Thomas of Utica, MS.; three sons, Rodney Murrell of Jackson, MS., Roderick Clark of Morton, MS., Eric Clark of Morton, MS.; three stepsons, Stepney Clark of Morton, MS., Fredrick Clark of Morton, MS., Mario Clark of Morton, MS.; four sisters, Rose Washington and husband B.W., Maggie Thomas Nichols and husband Airon, Vanesther Terrey and husband Merriel, Sandthan Thigpen and husband Keith, seven brothers, Percy Thomas and wife Carolyn, John Thomas and wife Carolyn, Bobby Thomas, Eddie Thomas, Joe Thomas and wife Patricia, Nathaniel Thomas and wife Evelyn, Charlie Thomas, fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Smith, Willie White, John Wright, Junior Stewart, Bradley Dorsey, Stepney Hunt.
