Rev. Merel Thornton

Rev. Merel Thornton age 78, a resident of Mariposa, CA. passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. Visitation was held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Allen Funeral Service in Turlock, CA. Funeral Services was held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 12 Noon at Keyes Assembly of God in Keyes, CA. Burial followed in the Ceres Memorial Park in Ceres, CA. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. was in charge of the local arrangements.
Rev. Thornton had been a resident of Mariposa, CA for the past 22 years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly in Turlock, CA. where he served as an associate pastor. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying on many mission trips to India, The Phillipines, Mexico and Poland.
Rev. Thornton is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rachel Thornton, sister, Betty Parham. He is survived by his wife Betty Thornton of Mariposa, CA.; one son, Timothy Thornton of Mariposa, CA.; one daughter, Rev. Ruth Thompson and husband Rev. Craig of Forest, MS.; two sisters, Loretta Logie of Watsonville, CA.; Gloria Morgan of Phoenix, AZ.; two brothers, David Thornton of Oakley, CA.; Mike Thornton of Lyle, WA.; two grandchildren, Jacob Thompson and wife Katlyne, Beth Thompson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
