Vermel H. Windham, aged 90, passed away peacefully at her residence in Forest, Mississippi, on March 17, 2025. Born on January 17, 1935, in Scott County, Mississippi, she lived most of her life in Homewood, MS, where she was a cherished member of the community.
Mrs. Windham was a vibrant individual who embraced life with joy and spirit. She was known for her engaging personality and was a dedicated member of the Homewood Coffee Club and the Golden Advantage Club at Community Bank. Her interests included sewing, quilting, and enjoying word search puzzles, activities that she approached with creativity and enthusiasm.
She is survived by her loving family, including her children: Terry Windham Gaddis (Johnny) of Smith County, MS; Harold Jack Windham, Jr. (Lindy) of Forest, MS; Tony Eugene Windham (Rose) of Heber Springs, AR; and Steve Windham (Tresha`) of Lake, MS; and her sister, Juanita Gray of Yazoo City, MS. Mrs. Windham was blessed with nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harold J. Windham, and her parents, R.O. and Warrine Harrison. Mrs. Windham also mourned the loss of her brothers, Robert and Bobby Harrison, and her sisters, Betty Jean Everett and Inez Hammock.
Visitation services will be held on March 19, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services located at 3054 Hwy 80 West, Morton, MS. Further visitation will take place on March 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 10:15 AM at Homewood Church, 8720 Hwy 35 South, Forest, MS. A funeral service will follow at Homewood Church from 10:30 AM, concluding with a graveside service at Homewood Church Cemetery beginning at 11:00 AM.
Vermel H. Windham's memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, creativity, and love will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.
