Kenneth Cooper “K.C.” Walters, age 85 passed away on Friday July 10, 2015 at Clinton Healthcare in Clinton, MS. Kenneth was born on February 13, 1930 to Alfonzo Cooper and Nettie Summers Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret Walters Robinson and Betty Ouida Lewis; two brothers, Slayton Walters and John Alps Walters. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rexa Eva Gunn Walters. K.C. is survived by one sister, Mary Ellen Stahl of Houston, TX; one brother, William Cody Walters of Carthage, MS; two daughters, Delores Nokes and husband, Bert Nokes of Pearl, MS, Margaret Breeden and husband Mel Breeden, Jr. of Brandon, MS; one granddaughter, Elizabeth “Little Liz” Nokes of Ridgeland, MS; numerous nieces and nephews. K.C. found great joy and comfort in his granddaughter. It was from him that she was given her name “Little Liz”. She spent the afternoon with her grandad prior to his demise.
K.C. was a lifelong member of the Piketon Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon. He loved the outdoors and anything mechanical but his true love was found in people. His joy came from helping friends, family or anyone in need. He never met a stranger.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Clinton Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided to K.C. Many of the workers had truly become extended family members. You were wonderful to all of the family as well. The family would also like to acknowledge the love and care given to K.C. and the family by Pax Hospice. The tender, holistic, Christians we found in each of you was our blessing. We thank you for the support. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Pax Hospice in Ridgeland, MS.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Wolf Funeral Services. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Cemetery in Forest, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Bobby Warren. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
