Mary Jo Whitling, 39, a resident of Union passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 on Hwy 21 in Philadelphia, MS. Visitation was held at Kalem United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 4:30 until service time on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the church. Burial followed in the Kalem United Methodist Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Art Kinstley. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Jo had lived in Union, MS for the past three years moving from Meridian, MS and she was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Union, MS. She loved writing and spending time with her family and singing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbern Depriest. She is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Depriest of Dekalb, MS; adopted parents, Nettie McDonald and the late Dwayne McDonald of Forest, MS; one daughter, Kaila Ann Nicole Whitling of Union, MS; two sons, Coy Depriest of Meridian, MS; Jacob Austin Whitling of Union, MS; two sisters, Pam Smith of Morton, MS; Kathy Leuthold of Hattiesburg, MS; two brothers, William Depriest of Homewood, MS; David Depriest of Morton, MS; adopted sister, Mandy McDonald of Forest, MS; adopted brother, Chris McDonald, Forest, MS; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were William Strickland, Tony Durham, Joshua Ward, Justin Belk, Tommy Sullivan, and Coddy Robertson.
